Monthly Newsletter

Most every month the troop Committee publishes a newsletter. It is full of announcements, upcoming events, and other important information.

The content of the June 2010 edition is as follows:

Fall Court of Honor

We have decided on a troop goal of 100 Merit Badges to be earned before the Fall Court of Honor on Sept 22nd.A pizza party is the reward for reaching this goal.

  • The deadline for advancement completion is September 8th.
  •  There will be meetings on August 18 and 25 for working to finish requirements.

Old/New requirements clarification:

  • Scouts have until September 8th to complete their next rank using the requirements in the old book If they had a substantial start on it before the end of last year.  If there are any questions about whether or not this applies to you, please see Dan Owens.
  • All ranks completed after September 8th will need to use the new requirements.

Philmont 2011!
The roster is filling up for the 2011 Philmont trip. It will be July 1-14, 2011. There are 7 slots left for youth (out of a total of 16), a waiting list already exists for adults. If you would like to reserve a spot on this amazing trip a $100 deposit is due NOW! The next payment of $312.50 will be due October 1. The total trip cost is estimated at $1100-$1200. This is truly an awesome adventure. Scouts must be 1st Class and 14 at the time of the trip.

Positions Available
The troop has several open leadership positions for the boys: Quartermaster, Scribe, Librarian and Historian. Let Bruce know if you are interested.

Adults are also needed for a variety of positions. We need you! If there is a job you’d like that someone else is doing already, ask them if they’d like a change- chances are they would!

We need someone willing to be Personal Fitness Merit Badge Counselor. This Eagle required badge has been headed up by Eric Kelly but he needs to be training a replacement. Please consider helping the boys with this.

For any adult leaders and merit badge counselors – Roger must have the recent date for your Youth Protection training. This can be done online with a link from myscouting.org.

Popcorn Chairs!
Thank you Teri Smith and Marcie Lorbacher for agreeing to head up this important troop fundraiser!

Summer Camp
Medical Forms (Ottari & Durant):  Also you will need a copy of your insurance card to go along. The meeting this Wednesday (June 16) is for turning these in you stragglers!

Fall Football Concessions
We have 3 football games that we'll need help for this fall:

October 2
October 30
November 20
We don't typically find out times until about a week before the game, but we need every troop family to send a volunteer to one of the games.  If you have a game preference, please contact Rick Waite.  He'll be handling scheduling for these games.

No July Committee Meeting
Have a great summer! There will be PLC and Committee Meeting on August 12th.
